The Biotechnology Study Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), conducted an official overseas visit to Japan, aimed at strengthening international academic and research collaboration in the field of biotechnology. The visit included engagements with three leading institutions: Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Osaka University, and Ibaraki University.
The primary agenda focused on initiating and reinforcing partnerships in education and research, particularly through the development of double degree programs and the exploration of potential international funding opportunities.
On April 6–7, 2026, the delegation visited NAIST, where discussions centered on the development of a double degree program for the Doctoral Program in Biotechnology. The visit also included meetings with several professors to identify opportunities for joint research and academic collaboration.
The visit continued on April 8, 2026, at Osaka University, focusing on discussions regarding a double degree program for the Master’s Program in Biotechnology. Additional discussions covered funding strategies and strengthening research collaboration between the institutions.
On April 9, 2026, the delegation visited Ibaraki University to explore potential academic and research collaborations that could be developed in the future.
This initiative is expected to result in more concrete and sustainable collaboration between UGM and its partner institutions in Japan, particularly in advancing internationally recognized education programs and innovative research in biotechnology.
