Registration officially opens from June 9, 2026 at 3:00 PM (WIB) until June 30, 2026 at 3:00 PM (WIB). This batch represents the final opportunity for applicants who wish to pursue advanced studies in biotechnology at one of Indonesia’s leading universities.

The Master’s Program in Biotechnology organized a lecture on Genetic Engineering featuring an international expert in plant genetic engineering. This activity was part of the program’s commitment to enhancing academic insight and strengthening students’ research capacity in modern biotechnology. The lecture was held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 09:00 AM onwards, in the PAU Building, 3rd Floor Lecture Room.

The session featured Prof. Dr. Bernhard Grimm, a distinguished expert in Plant Genetic Engineering. In his lecture, Prof. Grimm presented recent advances in plant genetic engineering, including molecular approaches to improve crop productivity, resilience to environmental stress, and the application of biotechnology to support global food security. read more

The Biotechnology Study Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), is pleased to host a guest lecture entitled “Targeting Inflammation,” which will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 13:00 to 14:00 WIB, at the Lecture Room, 3rd Floor, Biotechnology Study Program, PAU Building, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

This special lecture will feature Prof. Avril Robertson, Associate Dean Research and Deputy Executive Dean at the Faculty of Science, The University of Queensland (Australia), as the keynote speaker. In this session, Prof. Robertson will present recent scientific advances in targeting inflammation, a key biological process involved in many chronic diseases and health conditions. read more

The Biotechnology Study Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, held an online Guest Lecture titled “Protein Degraders: New Insights and Twists of Molecular Mechanism and Drug Design” featuring Prof. Alessio Ciulli FRS FRSE FRSC, a leading chemical structural biologist from the University of Dundee. The event took place via Zoom Meeting on Tuesday, 25 November 2025 at 20.00 WIB.

Prof. Ciulli presented recent advances in PORTAC (PROteolysis TArgeting Chimeras), a cutting-edge technology that directs disease-related proteins for degradation through the ubiquitin–proteasome system. PORTAC offers major advantages over traditional inhibitors, including the ability to target undruggable proteins and provide more sustained therapeutic effects. read more

This session featured Dr. Yustian Rovi Alfiansah, a researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The Master’s Program in Biotechnology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully held a general lecture as part of the Good Research Practice course, featuring a distinguished international speaker, Prof. Teruna J. Siahaan from the Kansas University, USA.

The lecture took place online via Zoom Meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, October 22–23, 2025, from 8:00 PM until completion, and was attended by all Master’s students of the UGM Biotechnology Program.

On the first day, Prof. Siahaan presented a lecture titled “Research Exploration and Translation: From Bench to Products”, exploring the pathway from fundamental research to innovative biotechnological applications and products. read more

Yogyakarta, 16 October 2025 — The Biotechnology Study Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a guest lecture for the Biotechnology Career course, featuring Prof. Thorunn Helgason, Head of the School of Biological Sciences and Chair in Ecology at The University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

The event took place in the lecture room, 3rd floor of the PAU Biotechnology Building, and was attended by postgraduate students of the Biotechnology Study Program.

During the first session, Prof. Helgason introduced The University of Edinburgh, one of the world’s leading research universities. She provided insights into opportunities for pursuing doctoral (PhD) studies, various scholarship schemes, and the academic and research disciplines available at the university.
