
Yogyakarta, 14 July 2025 — The Biotechnology Study Program, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a workshop titled “OMERO–GammaPath Implementation: Enhancing Image Management and Analysis for Teaching and Research in Biology and Biotechnology” on Monday, 14 July 2025, from 09:00 to 12:00 WIB at the 3rd Floor Lecture Room, PAU Building, UGM.
The workshop featured prominent experts in the field: Prof. Jason Swedlow from the School of Life Sciences, University of Dundee, who presented the use of OMERO (Open Microscopy Environment Remote Objects) in biotechnology research through practical examples and live demonstration; and Dr. Ery Kus Dwianingsih, Ph.D., Sp.PA(K) from the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK UGM), who shared best practices for integrating OMERO into teaching activities. The event aimed to introduce the application of OMERO–GammaPath as a scientific image management and analysis system to support teaching and research in biology and biotechnology.
The implementation of this technology aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by promoting technological innovation in scientific data management and strengthening research and digital learning capacities in higher education institutions.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the Biotechnology Study Program at UGM to advancing the quality of research and education through the integration of cutting-edge technology to address modern challenges in biotechnology.
