Yogyakarta, September 13, 2025 – The Master Program of Biotechnology, Universitas Gadjah Mada successfully held a series of welcoming activities for the 2025 cohort of new students. The program consisted of the inaugural lecture on Friday, August 15, 2025, and BioFusion 2025 on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Ledok Sambi Ecopark, Kaliurang, Yogyakarta. The event was attended by students from the 2025 and 2024 cohorts, as well as representatives from the 2023 cohort.
BioFusion 2025 began with a briefing and gathering at PAU Biotechnology. A total of 35 new students joined, accompanied by organizing committee members from the 2024 cohort, and traveled together by bus to Ledok Sambi Ecopark.
The event officially started at 08:30 AM, hosted by Jefri Saputro and Fidia Hudzaifah Akmal as master of ceremonies, and opened with ice-breaking sessions to energize the participants. The new students were introduced to the Student Executive Board and also had the opportunity to introduce themselves. This was followed by the presentation of the 2025 cohort’s video assignment themed “Me in 5 Years”, in which students shared their aspirations and career goals after completing their master’s degree.
The event continued with the handover of the Student Executive Board leadership from the 2024 to the 2025 cohort, followed by a biotechnology discussion session. Facilitated by the 2024 cohort, the session provided the new students with an opportunity to ask questions about coursework and research. The discussion, held from 09:30 to 11:30 AM, was highly engaging, with new students actively participating and exchanging ideas with their seniors from the 2024 and 2023 cohorts.
Afterward, participants enjoyed lunch, rest, and prayers before joining outbound activities at Ledok Sambi Ecopark from 12:30 to 16:00 PM, guided by the Ecopark facilitators. These outdoor activities aimed to strengthen camaraderie and foster closer bonds among the new students, building a sense of family within the Master of Biotechnology community.
The event concluded with prize announcements for the outbound winners, reflections and impressions shared by the new students, and a closing session led by the MCs.
