UGM Biotechnology Program Hosts Public Lecture with Prof. Mahmood Ahmed from University of Dundee, UK

Yogyakarta, September 29, 2025 — The Biotechnology Study Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada organized a public lecture on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 14:00 to 15:30 WIB, at the Graduate School Auditorium, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The event featured Prof. Mahmood Ahmed, Head of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Dundee, United Kingdom, who served as the keynote speaker and delivered a presentation on the topic: “The Role of Drug Discovery in Developing Therapeutics.”

This lecture aimed to provide valuable insights into the crucial role of drug discovery in advancing modern therapeutics. Through Prof. Ahmed’s presentation, participants gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in developing new drug compounds, as well as the contribution of medicinal chemistry to global health.

The Biotechnology Study Program at UGM is committed to engaging international scholars and experts to broaden the perspectives of students, researchers, and the wider academic community in Indonesia on the latest developments in biotechnology and health sciences.
