Biotechnology Master’s Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada Hosts Career Lecture to Broaden Students’ Insights into Research Opportunities
The Biotechnology Master’s Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held another session of its Biotechnology Career Lecture on Friday, 7 November 2025. Organized online, the event aimed to expand students’ understanding of career opportunities and the evolving landscape of biotechnology research in Indonesia.
This session featured Dr. Yustian Rovi Alfiansah, a researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Dr. Yustian is widely recognized for his active involvement in various studies focusing on biology and biotechnology, as well as his dedication to advancing research aligned with national needs.
With the theme “Careers in Biotechnology from a Researcher’s Perspective,” Dr. Yustian shared his professional journey and provided insights into the development of biotechnology research, the challenges and opportunities faced by researchers, and the essential competencies required to contribute effectively in the modern scientific landscape. He also offered a realistic overview of the work culture within national research institutions and highlighted potential avenues for future collaboration.
The interactive discussion enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of career prospects in biotechnology—particularly in the research pathway. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker regarding strategic steps for building a sustainable research career.
