The Master’s Program in Biotechnology, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), will hold an Open Thesis Defense as part of its academic process, providing a platform for students to present their research findings to the public. This event serves as a means of scientific dissemination and encourages knowledge exchange in the field of biotechnology.
On this occasion, Awal Nur Rahmat will present his research entitled “Bioinformatics Analysis, Cloning, and Heterologous Expression of DNA Polymerase B3 from Sulfurisphaera javensis KD-1 in the host cell Escherichia coli.” The study explores bioinformatics approaches and molecular biology techniques to understand and express a DNA polymerase enzyme derived from an extremophilic organism in a bacterial host system.
The open defense will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1:30 PM (WIB), located at the 3rd Floor Biotechnology Lecture Room, Graduate School UGM. The session will also be accessible online via Zoom Meeting, allowing broader participation.
This event is open to the public, and students, academics, as well as the general public are warmly invited to attend and engage in scientific discussion. Through this activity, it is expected that the research presented will not only fulfill academic requirements but also contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and foster future collaborations.
