UGM Biotechnology Master’s Students Join Inaugural Lecture and New Student Orientation for Even Semester 2024/2025 and Odd Semester 2025/2026

The Research Center in Biotechnology in collaboration with the Study Program in Biotechnology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, was organizing a workshop entitled “Zero Coding: Bacteria Whole Genome Analysis Made Easy”. The event took place on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 09.00 to 12.00 WIB at the 3rd Floor Lecture Room, PAU Building, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The workshop featured Jacob Wu, Global Business Manager of Genomics Biosci & Tech, who delivered a session on practical approaches to bacterial genome analysis that require no programming skills (zero coding). read more

The Biotechnology Study Program, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), hosted a General Lecture for the Career in Biotechnology course featuring distinguished international speaker, Mr. Andreas Stäbler from the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV, Germany. The event was held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM (WIB) in the 3rd Floor Lecture Hall, PAU Building, UGM.

In his lecture, Mr. Stäbler delivered a presentation on “Current Applied Research Approaches in Non-Medical Biotechnology”, sharing insights into recent advancements in applied biotechnology beyond the medical field, and their potential contributions to industry and sustainability. read more

The lecture featured Dr. Min Fey CHEK from the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, who presented his latest research on the structure of PHA synthase (PhaC), a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of eco-friendly polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). read more

General Lecture: Introduction of Research in NAIST Bioscience and The New Collaboration Centers in NAIST by Prof. Yasumasa Bessho, Ph.D.

Biotechnology Study Program held a public lecture with speakers from NARA Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) on September 1st, 2023 at 3rd floor, PAU Building UGM. Starting the public lecture meeting this time, Prof. Hisaji Maki as public relations explained the profile of NAIST to the students who attended the lecture.  NAIST is a national university of Japan located in Kansai Science City, the border region between Nara, Osaka, and Kyoto. Founded in 1991, NAIST consists of schools in three integrated fields: information science, biological science, and materials science. In 2018, NAIST underwent an organizational transformation to continue research in these areas while promoting interdisciplinary research and education in traditional fields. With this new, one-of-a-kind school organization, NAIST strives forward with the goal of conducting cutting-edge research in cutting-edge fields and training students to become future leaders in science and technology. read more

Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia that lectured by Andreas Donny Prakarsa, S.Farm., M.Sc. He is working as a Head of Corporate Relationship at PT. Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia. Previously, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at Sanatha Darma University, Yogyakarta, and continued his Master program by taking Medical Biotechnology at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. read more
