The Academic Development Team of the Master’s and Doctoral Biotechnology Programs, Graduate School Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as part of efforts to adjust the curriculum in response to recent Rector Regulations and the implementation of the latest curriculum framework.

The event was held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM WIB at the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of the Biotechnology Study Program, PAU UGM. The FGD brought together faculty members and internal stakeholders to discuss strategic directions for curriculum development. read more

The Biotechnology Study Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, held an online Guest Lecture titled “Protein Degraders: New Insights and Twists of Molecular Mechanism and Drug Design” featuring Prof. Alessio Ciulli FRS FRSE FRSC, a leading chemical structural biologist from the University of Dundee. The event took place via Zoom Meeting on Tuesday, 25 November 2025 at 20.00 WIB.

Prof. Ciulli presented recent advances in PORTAC (PROteolysis TArgeting Chimeras), a cutting-edge technology that directs disease-related proteins for degradation through the ubiquitin–proteasome system. PORTAC offers major advantages over traditional inhibitors, including the ability to target undruggable proteins and provide more sustained therapeutic effects. read more

The Biotechnology Master’s Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held another session of its Biotechnology Career Lecture on Friday, 7 November 2025. Organized online, the event aimed to expand students’ understanding of career opportunities and the evolving landscape of biotechnology research in Indonesia.

This session featured Dr. Yustian Rovi Alfiansah, a researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Dr. Yustian is widely recognized for his active involvement in various studies focusing on biology and biotechnology, as well as his dedication to advancing research aligned with national needs. read more

The Master’s Program in Biotechnology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully held a general lecture as part of the Good Research Practice course, featuring a distinguished international speaker, Prof. Teruna J. Siahaan from the Kansas University, USA.

The lecture took place online via Zoom Meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, October 22–23, 2025, from 8:00 PM until completion, and was attended by all Master’s students of the UGM Biotechnology Program.

On the first day, Prof. Siahaan presented a lecture titled “Research Exploration and Translation: From Bench to Products”, exploring the pathway from fundamental research to innovative biotechnological applications and products. read more

The event took place in the lecture room, 3rd floor of the PAU Biotechnology Building, and was attended by postgraduate students of the Biotechnology Study Program.

This lecture aimed to provide valuable insights into the crucial role of drug discovery in advancing modern therapeutics.
