A master’s student in Biotechnology, Muadz Fikri Gunawan, has successfully completed an international internship program at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan. The internship was conducted from February 23, 2026, to March 20, 2026.

During the program, Muadz joined the Laboratory of Organelle Control, a leading research laboratory focusing on cellular and organelle mechanisms. His research topic was titled “Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) and Its Application in Yeast Cells.” read more

On this occasion, Awal Nur Rahmat will present his research entitled “Bioinformatics Analysis, Cloning, and Heterologous Expression of DNA Polymerase B3 from Sulfurisphaera javensis KD-1 in the host cell Escherichia coli.” The study explores bioinformatics approaches and molecular biology techniques to understand and express a DNA polymerase enzyme derived from an extremophilic organism in a bacterial host system. read more

The Master’s Program in Biotechnology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) conducted an accreditation site visit by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) on 3–4 February 2026. This visit is part of the external evaluation process aimed at ensuring and improving the quality of higher education in the field of biotechnology.

The visit was conducted by two LAMSAMA assessors, Prof. Tjandra Anggareni, Ph.D. and Prof. Amin Setyo Leksono, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. During the two-day assessment, the assessors carried out a series of evaluation activities, including reviewing accreditation documents and holding discussions with faculty leaders and the study program management. read more
