Visiting Professor from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin at the Biotechnology Study Program

The Biotechnology Study Program strengthens its international engagement through an academic visit by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Grimm, a leading expert in plant molecular biology from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany. The activity took place on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, RCB.

This visit is part of the Visiting Professor Program, aimed at enhancing research collaboration, knowledge exchange, and curriculum development within the Biotechnology Study Program.

The discussion was highly interactive and attended by faculty leaders, and lecturers. Notable attendees included the Dean of the Graduate School, the Head of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Biotechnology, and the Head of the Biotechnology Research Center. read more

Strengthening Academic and Research Collaboration in Biotechnology between UGM and Japanese Universities

LAMSAMA Accreditation Site Visit for the Master’s Program in Biotechnology, Universitas Gadjah Mada

The Master’s Program in Biotechnology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) conducted an accreditation site visit by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) on 3–4 February 2026. This visit is part of the external evaluation process aimed at ensuring and improving the quality of higher education in the field of biotechnology.

The visit was conducted by two LAMSAMA assessors, Prof. Tjandra Anggareni, Ph.D. and Prof. Amin Setyo Leksono, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. During the two-day assessment, the assessors carried out a series of evaluation activities, including reviewing accreditation documents and holding discussions with faculty leaders and the study program management. read more

UGM Biotechnology Study Program Hosts Forum Pemuda Perubahan 2026 Delegation

The Biotechnology Study Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed 80 delegates of Forum Pemuda Perubahan (FPP) 2026 as part of a national study visit organized by the Yayasan Forum Mahasiswa Beasiswa Aspirasi Wakil Ketua DPD-RI Tamsil Linrung (Formasita). The participants represent selected youth from 24 provinces across Indonesia.

The visit, held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM WIB, aimed to strengthen scientific literacy, leadership, and youth capacity through exposure to biotechnology as a future-oriented solution. UGM Hosts PORTAC Guest Lecture with Prof. Alessio Ciulli FRS FRSE FRSC from the University of Dundee

The Biotechnology Study Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, held an online Guest Lecture titled “Protein Degraders: New Insights and Twists of Molecular Mechanism and Drug Design” featuring Prof. Alessio Ciulli FRS FRSE FRSC, a leading chemical structural biologist from the University of Dundee. The event took place via Zoom Meeting on Tuesday, 25 November 2025 at 20.00 WIB.

Prof. Ciulli presented recent advances in PORTAC (PROteolysis TArgeting Chimeras), a cutting-edge technology that directs disease-related proteins for degradation through the ubiquitin–proteasome system. PORTAC offers major advantages over traditional inhibitors, including the ability to target undruggable proteins and provide more sustained therapeutic effects. read more
