Focus Group Discussion on Curriculum Adjustment for Master’s and Doctoral Biotechnology Programs, Graduate School UGM

The Academic Development Team of the Master’s and Doctoral Biotechnology Programs, Graduate School Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as part of efforts to adjust the curriculum in response to recent Rector Regulations and the implementation of the latest curriculum framework.

The event was held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM WIB at the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of the Biotechnology Study Program, PAU UGM. The FGD brought together faculty members and internal stakeholders to discuss strategic directions for curriculum development. read more

LAMSAMA Accreditation Site Visit for the Master’s Program in Biotechnology, Universitas Gadjah Mada

The Master’s Program in Biotechnology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) conducted an accreditation site visit by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) on 3–4 February 2026. This visit is part of the external evaluation process aimed at ensuring and improving the quality of higher education in the field of biotechnology.

The visit was conducted by two LAMSAMA assessors, Prof. Tjandra Anggareni, Ph.D. and Prof. Amin Setyo Leksono, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. During the two-day assessment, the assessors carried out a series of evaluation activities, including reviewing accreditation documents and holding discussions with faculty leaders and the study program management. read more

UGM Biotechnology Study Program Hosts Forum Pemuda Perubahan 2026 Delegation

The Biotechnology Study Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed 80 delegates of Forum Pemuda Perubahan (FPP) 2026 as part of a national study visit organized by the Yayasan Forum Mahasiswa Beasiswa Aspirasi Wakil Ketua DPD-RI Tamsil Linrung (Formasita). The participants represent selected youth from 24 provinces across Indonesia.

The visit, held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM WIB, aimed to strengthen scientific literacy, leadership, and youth capacity through exposure to biotechnology as a future-oriented solution. During the session, participants attended a public lecture entitled “Biotechnology as a Future Solution: Scientific Innovation for Food Security, Health, and Environmental Sustainability.” read more

The event took place in the lecture room, 3rd floor of the PAU Biotechnology Building, and was attended by postgraduate students of the Biotechnology Study Program.

During the first session, Prof. Helgason introduced The University of Edinburgh, one of the world’s leading research universities. She provided insights into opportunities for pursuing doctoral (PhD) studies, various scholarship schemes, and the academic and research disciplines available at the university. The session offered valuable information about the UK higher education system and practical advice for students aspiring to continue their studies and research abroad. read more

BioFusion 2025: Biotech Fun Session in One Nation Welcoming New Students of Master in Biotechnology UGM

Yogyakarta, September 13, 2025 – The Master Program of Biotechnology, Universitas Gadjah Mada successfully held a series of welcoming activities for the 2025 cohort of new students. The program consisted of the inaugural lecture on Friday, August 15, 2025, and BioFusion 2025 on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Ledok Sambi Ecopark, Kaliurang, Yogyakarta. The event was attended by students from the 2025 and 2024 cohorts, as well as representatives from the 2023 cohort.

BioFusion 2025 began with a briefing and gathering at PAU Biotechnology. A total of 35 new students joined, accompanied by organizing committee members from the 2024 cohort, and traveled together by bus to Ledok Sambi Ecopark. read more

Two students of Study Program of Master’s in Biotechnology UGM, Nada Tazkia Purba and Nurmara Salsabila, along with Study Program of Biotechnology UGM’s lecturer Dr. Yekti Asih Purwestri and Dr. Tri Rini Nuringtyas attended a workshop at the University of Adelaide (UoA), Australia on June 18-21, 2024. This activity is one of the objectives of the KONEKSI (Knowledge Partnership Platform Australia-Indonesia) Program, a collaborative initiative between organizations in Australia and Indonesia. Together with the Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Center for Future Crops Development, Australian National University (ANU), the research collaboration entitled “Building a Sustainable Future: Developing Nutritious and Climate-Resilient Crop Varieties” also involves BRIN Indonesia and IRRI Philippines. On this trip, the KONEKSI research consortium was fully present, namely Dr. Aris Hairmansis, Dr. Yudhistira Nugraha, and Trias Sitaresmi, M.Sc. from BRIN; Prof. Inez Slamet-Loedin from IRRI; and Dr. Siti Nurbaiti, Dr. Yustina C.F.S., Gloria Fransisca K.L., and a team of research assistants from UGM. read more

Initiating and Strengthening Academic and Research Collaboration, The Team of Study Program of Doctoral and Master in Biotechnology Conducted a Series of Visits to the United Kingdom

The Head of the Study Program of Doctoral in Biotechnology, Graduate School UGM, Dr. Tri Rini Nuringtyas (Mrs. Nuning) and the Head of the Study Program of Master in Biotechnology, Dr. Dini Wahyu Kartika Sari (Mrs. Dini) went on an official trip to the UK in March 2024 to fulfill an invitation from the University of Dundee (UoD). This invitation is intended to strengthen academic and research collaboration between UGM and UoD, as well as following up on the signing of the UGM-UoD MoU regarding the Double Degree PS Masters Program in Biotechnology with the UoD School of Life Sciences (SLS). A series of agendas were carried out during the week-long visit to UoD, including discussions with several leaders of the Master of Science (MSc) and Master by Research (MBR) Study Programs, as well as the Dean of SLS. The agenda for this meeting was to discuss the technical implementation of the double degree program as well as opportunities for UGM alumni to continue their education at the Doctoral level at SLS UoD with the LPDP scholarship scheme. SLS UoD, which is currently a leading institution in the field of life sciences in the UK, is open to accepting students from the UGM Biotechnology Study Program to undertake internships, establish research collaborations, joint supervision, and guest lectures. read more

Biotechnology Study Program of Gadjah Mada University Successfully Holds National Seminar

Saturday 29 October 2022UGM Postgraduate School Biotechnology study program successfully held a national seminar. The national seminar this time raised the theme ‘Biotechnology for Climate Change and Global Warming Mitigation’. This national seminar activity received sponsorship from Crop Life Indonesia and Science Genetics. The speaker this time is Professor Dr. Ir. Alim Isnansetyo, M.Sc. from Gadjah Mada University, Professor R. Manjunatha Kini from the National University of Singapore and Professor Tatsuo Sato, Ph.D. from Ibaraki University. In addition, this seminar was also attended by 59 speakers from various agencies and universities. Some of the presenters came from Gadjah Mada University, Bandung Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta State University, Lampung University, BRIN, and PT. Great Giant Pineapple. read more
